The Role

We are the fastest-growing credit union in BC, and our finance team is expanding! We seek an experienced Director of Finance and Treasury to join our leadership team. In this role, you will oversee treasury functions, financial reporting, liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, and strategic financial planning. You will lead financial operations, ensuring financial health and optimizing resources, working closely with senior leadership to support sustainable growth and stability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Treasury Management: Oversee liquidity, cash flow, and investment strategies to meet financial objectives.
  2. Financial Management: Manage financial operations, develop policies, safeguard assets, and drive cost efficiency.
  3. Derivatives Management & Hedging Strategy: Lead hedging strategies for interest rates, currency, and risk management.
  4. Securitization: Manage securitization activities, optimize liquidity, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  5. Asset and Liability Management (ALM): Lead ALM processes balancing risk, liquidity, and profitability.
  6. Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and support decision-making.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensure compliance.
  8. Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate financial reporting and stay current with standards and regulations.
  9. Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  10. Strategic Partnership: Provide financial insights to support organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related; CFA and/or CPA preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in treasury or finance, with 4+ in leadership roles.
  • Experience in financial institutions or credit unions is highly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of financial regulations, treasury operations, derivatives, securitization, ALM, IFRS, and financial reporting.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with treasury, derivatives, securitization, IFRS, budgeting, and financial systems.
  • Understanding of regulatory and legislative controls within the Canadian financial services industry.
  • Experience managing unionized employees.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours during busy periods.
