Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and collaborative financial leader with a fun, outgoing personality who enjoys working alongside others in a dynamic environment.

The Director of Finance plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health and financial strategy of our organization. This individual should not only excel in strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting but also bring energy and enthusiasm to the team. This position will work closely with the COO to drive financial insights, optimize capital allocation, and support business growth initiatives.

As our Director of Finance, you will lead key financial functions while fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and positivity. Your expertise will contribute to the development and execution of financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term goals.

While this role has defined responsibilities, we value team members who bring additional skills, interests, and passions to the table. If there are other areas where you believe you can contribute—whether it's process improvement, mentoring, special projects, or something unique—we’d love to hear about it!

Why this Role is Exciting:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with the COO, gaining valuable insights into financial strategy and playing a vital role in shaping the company's financial direction.
  • Leadership Impact: Lead, coach, and mentor a dedicated team, fostering a collaborative environment where innovative ideas thrive, and professional growth is encouraged.
  • Scale the Business: The team is well-established and highly functional, providing a strong foundation for launching new ideas, cost-accounting initiatives, and cross-collaboration with other Directors to accelerate growth and scale the business.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports, ensuring smooth operations of the finance department and maintaining collaborative relationships with all other departments.
  • Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Ensure all transactional aspects of banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory are completed daily.
  • Ensure all manufacturing-related transactions are completed and posted to the general ledger accurately with proper cut-off procedures at month-end.
  • Develop and maintain financial strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Monitor financial KPIs and create ad-hoc reports to support strategic decisions.
  • Document, monitor, and update accounting policies and procedures.
  • Build automated analytical tools
  • Perform internal audits of processes and transactions and assist with external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Optimize capital allocation by providing financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Assist in structuring financing options for business expansion.
  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of payroll, general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in financial operations.
  • Work closely with external accountants on year-end tax filings and financial audits.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) required; CGMA designation is a plus.
  • 15+ years of financial management experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Proven experience with financial forecasting, cost control, and cash flow management.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close functions.
  • Experience with daily cash management.
  • Expertise in ERP systems.
  • Expertise in Excel.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships across departments.
