The Opportunity

The Director of Finance for Canada oversees all finance activities across various business lines (Assurance, Consulting, EYP, Tax) and finance functions (Controlling, Markets Finance). Reporting to the CFO, this role supports the Executive Committee, Service Line Managing Partners, and other senior leaders. The individual understands the firm's strategy and drives the delivery of finance solutions and services, collaborating across service lines and national functions to support strategic execution. They also work with global finance leaders to provide insights, analytical support, internal controls, reporting solutions, and best practices sharing.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Enable financial processes to deliver accurate metrics supporting strategic plans, including new services and assets.
  2. Review and analyze financial metrics such as revenue, gross margin, utilization, leverage, expenses, and exposure, providing insights and improvement recommendations.
  3. Prepare, review, and consolidate annual budgets and forecasts.
  4. Provide strategic financial input on decision-making, including financial results, historical performance, and future estimates.
  5. Support leadership in managing engagement economics, billing, collection, and revenue days.
  6. Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and measurement.
  7. Support the Canadian CFO by promoting best practices and solutions across Canada.
  8. Lead and participate in firm-wide finance initiatives.
  9. Demonstrate leadership in delivering strategic finance and operational initiatives across service lines.
  10. Manage and develop a team of finance professionals in Canada.
Analytical/Decision-Making Responsibilities
  1. Apply strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities.
  2. Collaborate with other national functions to support the CFO, executive team, and leadership.
  3. Operate in a dynamic market environment, continuously assessing financial drivers.
  4. Advise on financial performance versus plans using analytics like trend analysis and scenario modeling.
Leadership and Coaching
  1. Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  2. Work collaboratively with senior leaders locally and globally.
  3. Lead and implement business change initiatives successfully.
  4. Build, lead, and mentor a team of finance professionals.
Client Service
  1. Embed trusted advisor practices within the finance team.
  2. Focus on analysis, advice, and solutions, leveraging emerging technologies like AI.
  3. Enhance service delivery through collaboration and best practices.
Analysis, Modeling & Advice
  1. Communicate financial performance clearly and concisely.
  2. Analyze market and financial trends to inform decisions.
  3. Apply sound financial practices and seek operational excellence.
Qualifications
  1. CPA or equivalent professional certification is required.
  2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  3. SAP experience is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of EY’s services, service lines, and market landscape is beneficial; EY experience is a plus.
