Job summary

Drake International, located in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a Director of Finance to report to the President. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on financial oversight, focused on profitability, reporting improvements, and scalable processes to support growth and acquisitions.

You will partner with senior leaders and operations to drive performance, establish KPIs, and guide a developing accounting team through expansion and integration efforts.

Qualifications

• CPA designation would be a nice asset to have.
• Significant progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership, ideally within a high-growth organization.
• Experience implementing ERP systems, cloud accounting platforms, reporting tools, and automation.
• Knowledge of service-based revenue models, including recurring contracts, inspections, and project work.

Responsibilities

• Lead finance strategy and align departmental priorities with organizational objectives.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Lead external review engagements and oversee lender reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to establish KPIs, monitor performance, and identify profitability opportunities.
• Coach and develop the Assistant Controller and junior accounting team.
• Improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and automation for accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee multi-entity financial operations, intercompany transactions, and consolidated reporting preparation.
• Lead the finance workstream for future acquisitions, including integration and system alignment.

Salary: $130,000 - $170,000 + bonus + RRSP

We're partnering with a growing facilities services organization to recruit a Director of Finance. Reporting directly to the President, this role offers the opportunity to shape financial strategy, strengthen reporting and systems, develop the accounting team, and support continued growth through organic expansion and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead finance strategy and align departmental priorities with organizational objectives.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting.
• Lead annual external review engagements and oversee lender reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to establish KPIs, monitor performance, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Coach and develop the Assistant Controller and junior accounting team.
• Improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and automation to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee multi-entity financial operations, intercompany transactions, and preparation for consolidated reporting.
• Lead the finance workstream for future acquisitions, including integration, systems alignment, and process standardization.

What You'll Bring

• CPA designation would be a nice asset to have
• Significant progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership, ideally within a high-growth organization.
• Construction or industrial services industry background would be an asset
• Knowledge of service-based revenue models, including recurring contracts, inspections, and project work.
• Experience managing multiple legal entities, intercompany transactions, and consolidation preparation.
• Strong financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis expertise.
• Experience partnering with operational leaders to drive business performance and accountability.
• Proven ability to coach and develop accounting teams.
• Experience implementing ERP systems, cloud accounting platforms, reporting tools, and automation.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
