Job summary

ShawenimAbinoojii is seeking a Director of Care to oversee the Northern, Southern and Sacred Care Programs, reporting to the Executive Director. This role leads program development, ensures licensing standards, and supports a senior management team.

The successful candidate holds an MSW or BSW with 5+ years of related experience and supervisory background; knowledge of Foster Care, Addiction and Trauma, and Indigenous perspectives; strong communication and driver’s license; willingness to work

Qualifications

  • MSW or BSW degree with 5+ years of related experience.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge in Addiction and Trauma.
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and create work plans.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience developing and supporting a strong, efficient and respectful team-based approach to service delivery.
  • Understanding of Community living in the Southeast region.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem solving and team skills.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Must have clear Criminal Record (Vulnerable Sector Check), Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Prior contact Check.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of the Care Programs and services.
  • Ensure programs align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing program development meeting Foster Care Licensing Standards and First Nations standards.
  • Develop Foster Care Resources for Southeast First Nations communities.
  • Maintain awareness of research and reports related to Foster Care Services and implement recommendations.
  • Provide direction to Southern Care, Northern Care and Sacred Care Program Supervisors.
  • Approve House Parent applicants for all Care Programs.
  • Assess and monitor quality of service provisions and ensure efficiencies.
  • Track and monitor statistics of program effectiveness for reporting.
  • Monitor the financial guidelines for all Care Programs.
  • Maintain communication with the Executive Director through monthly and annual reports.
  • Participate in operational planning and decision-making with SAI Directors.
