Southbridge Care Homes owns and operates several long-term care and retirement homes throughout many urban and rural areas across Ontario.

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Director of Care to lead our Nursing Team. This individual will ensure residents receive quality care, a safe environment, and respectful communication. The role involves managing quality nursing practices in accordance with standards set by governing bodies, policies, and care standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and passion for senior care by offering strong leadership support to our homes.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management related to resident care and the home.
  2. Maintain a system for care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit level.
  3. Meet budgetary goals and manage utilization of nursing supplies effectively.
  4. Collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
  5. Provide active leadership and mentorship to staff, overseeing quality care provision.
  6. Initiate investigations and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety, including WSIB claims and return-to-work plans (preferred).
  7. Conduct investigations, follow-ups, and documentation to address risks, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  8. Take responsibility for the nursing department.
  9. Be knowledgeable of MOH Regulations and the FLTC Act.
  10. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  1. Degree/Diploma in Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  3. At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in long-term care.
  4. Minimum three years of managerial or supervisory experience in healthcare.
  5. Knowledge of evidence-based or prevailing practices.
  6. Understanding of human resource and financial management.
  7. Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  8. Current CPR certification.
  9. Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months of hire.
  10. TB skin test or Chest X-ray within 1 year of hire.
