Position Overview:

The Director of Business Development is a member of the Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO, and will also serve as a resource to the ADL Board of Directors when required. This position provides advice, guidance, and support on current and future business opportunities arising from the strategic partnerships and alliances ADL has established with its partners and customers. Operating in a matrixed environment, the role works closely with the Corporate and Foodservice Sales Team, Operations, and Corporate Finance, providing critical industry and strategic insights related to the dairy production planning, milk volume forecasting and production lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by analyzing dairy industry trends, market dynamics, emerging technologies, and evolving consumer needs.
  • Develop and present proposals and business plans for potential growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate opportunities by assessing market strategy, economic viability, and risk to determine strategic alignment.
  • Provide updates and reports to the Board of Directors on business development activities, as required.

Strategy & Operational Support

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team on strategic planning, priority setting, and the implementation of initiatives aligned with ADL’s strategic objectives.
  • Support the development and execution of short- and long-term business and production strategies.
  • Assist in the rollout of key programs and initiatives, fostering alignment across the organization.

Relationships & Leadership

  • Guide the Corporate and Foodservice Sales Teams on sales strategy and forecasting.
  • Monitor sales performance and financial impacts, and supporting improvement in service, products, and processes.
  • Foster strong internal relationships to ensure the successful execution of business initiatives.

Financial & Metrics

  • Advise on product costing, pricing strategies, and sourcing calculations.
  • Establish volume and margin targets across products, customer segments, and facilities.
  • Provide reporting on sales performance, milk utilization, and new initiatives to the Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Lead training for new business lines and oversee funding applications.

Industry Stewardship

  • Maintain strong partnerships with industry stakeholders, suppliers, and key accounts.
  • Represent ADL in policy advocacy and industry forums at local, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Promote the dairy industry and advance ADL’s interests in trade discussions and government relations.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive business development experience in a manufacturing and productionenvironment.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and financialmodeling.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic insight and advice to seniorexecutives.
  • Experience in preparing high-quality strategic and businessproposals.
  • Highly organized, with a proven ability to manage critical and complex projects across multiple product lines with varying levels of urgency, sensitivity, andimportance.
  • Stronginterpersonalskills,includingbutnotlimitedto,collaboration,consensus-building,and managing complex or sensitiveissues.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, generate key insights, and make informed businessrecommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with experience synthesizing data and information into clear presentations andreports.
Education and Training:
  • Successful completion of a relevant university degree including but not limited to Business Administration, Economics,Finance/Accounting.
