Director of M&A Business Development

Position Summary
Jonas Software acquires, strengthens, and grows vertical market technology companies enabling them to be clear leaders within their focused industries. Jonas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc., publicly listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (CSU.TO).


This is an exciting opportunity overseeing the M&A Business Development function for one of Jonas’ largest Portfolios. Working for the Portfolio CEO, and closely with the Portfolio’s M&A execution team, you will help drive acquisitions globally by ensuring the Business Development function is structured, managed, and reported on in an efficient, scalable, and repeatable manner. Additionally, this role will be responsible for driving the larger acquisition strategy and funnel. If you have a proven track record in a Business Development leadership role, strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with owners/ operators of companies we acquire and internal business leaders, we are looking for you.


Experience using Salesforce to manage BD operations is essential, as is a strong analytical mindset to assess potential fit and prioritize opportunities. This is a highly collaborative role that sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and business development.

Job Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Representatives.
• Set clear KPIs and performance goals for sourcing activity and engagement.
• Foster a high-performance, data-driven culture across the BD function.
Strategic Sourcing
• Own the top-of-funnel deal sourcing process: market mapping, target identification, and qualification.
• Guide the team in executing effective outreach strategies to engage potential acquisition targets.
• Prioritize outreach based on strategic fit, market dynamics, and growth potential.
Systems & Process Ownership
• Design, implement, and optimize workflows in Salesforce to manage pipeline activity, reporting, and follow-ups.
• Build scalable processes to track sourcing progress, outreach effectiveness, and conversion rates.
• Focus on not only building but managing the funnel of investments through a long period of time
• Create dashboards and reporting tools to provide visibility to executive leadership.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Partner with Corporate Development, Strategy, and Executive teams to align sourcing efforts with strategic goals.
• Provide insights and recommendations on target companies based on industry trends, product fit, and business performance.
• Support the transition of qualified targets to M&A Execution team for evaluation and execution.

Job Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, or a similar strategic role, preferably in the software or technology industry.
• Proven experience leading a BD team or function, ideally in a high-growth or acquisition-oriented environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market and company-level data. High level of comfort with data, building reports with Power BI
• Experience using Salesforce to manage BD pipelines and reporting (bonus if you've built custom workflows/dashboards).
• Systems thinker who thrives on building scalable, repeatable processes.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and team leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus but not required.

Nice to have
• Experience in SaaS or cloud software companies.
• Familiarity with market research tools and platforms (e.g., PitchBook, Capetera, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Crunchbase).
• Background in strategic partnerships or corporate strategy.
