Team Leader - Smart Buildings & Building Automation Recruiter - US and UK

Edison Smart are actively looking to hire a Director of Finance to join a growing business within the HVAC and Building Automation space. The Director of Finance will be a seasoned finance professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles (particularly U.S. GAAP) and a proven history of leading high-performing finance teams in dynamic or start-up environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Deliver strategic financial insights on company performance, including KPIs and other critical metrics
• Manage the year-end audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure a smooth and timely review
• Collaborate with external tax advisors to design and execute effective tax strategies across multiple countries including Canada and the USA.

Qualifications:

• Recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA) mandatory; a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is preferred.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting standards.
• Experience with NetSuite and financial systems such as Business Intelligence Tools (Power BI) and AvaTax is an asset.

The ideal candidate would have extensive Finance experience within the Construction, Energy or HVAC sector. The ideal candidate would be available immediately or within 2 weeks.
