Accounting & Financial Reporting – AVP or VP (Title DOE)

We’re working with a globally recognized financial institution looking to add a sharp, hands-on finance professional to its Canadian team in Toronto. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced CPA with a background in Canadian banking or public accounting to step into a high-visibility role with room to grow.

Depending on your experience, this role can be hired at the AVP or VP level — and it comes with direct exposure to senior leadership and the global finance group.

What You’ll Do

This isn’t your average reporting role. You’ll be a key member of the Canadian finance team, helping lead the preparation and review of financial statements and regulatory reports (IFRS, OSFI, Bank of Canada, and more). You'll have a hand in everything from ledger oversight to risk controls and new product initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and review IFRS-compliant financial reports and regulatory filings (OSFI, BoC, Head Office).
  • Own general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations.
  • Support audits, working papers, tax filings, and quarterly reporting packages.
  • Identify and implement improvements in reporting, controls, and process automation.
  • Partner with internal teams across functions and regions to support new initiatives and product launches.
  • Contribute to documentation, internal policies, and risk control procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Canadian CPA designation is a must.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a mix of:
  • A Big 4 audit firm (servicing financial institutions)
  • A Canadian federally regulated financial institution (FRFI)
  • Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS) and understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials or other ERP systems is an asset.
  • Familiarity with wholesale banking or foreign bank branches is a plus.

Why This Role?

  • Leadership Track: Strong performers can progress into a VP-level role or higher.
  • Global Exposure: Work with senior stakeholders across North America, Asia, and Europe.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Enjoy a 3-day in-office schedule balanced with remote work.
  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary of $110K–$140K + annual bonus + comprehensive benefits.
  • High Visibility: Your work will be front and center, influencing reporting, audits, controls, and product launches.

If you’re a CPA with a strong foundation in Canadian banking or financial reporting — and you're ready for a role with more ownership, visibility, and long-term potential — let’s talk.
