The Director, National Accounts

The Director, National Accounts is responsible for managing and developing relationships with dealer firms and distribution partners at the head office level, aiming to secure platform access, drive ETF AUM flows, expand model portfolio and discretionary inclusion, and increase VanEck Canada's market share across dealer channels. Key contacts will include Platform and Product Gatekeepers, Heads of Research & Due Diligence, Portfolio Construction teams, and dealer senior leadership.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Includes the following; other duties may be assigned as needed

  • Cultivate relationships with key executives and decision-makers at dealer partner firms to elevate VanEck Canada's brand visibility and execute strategic distribution initiatives. Key contacts will include Platform Heads, Product Gatekeepers, Heads of Research & Due Diligence, Portfolio Construction teams, and dealer senior leadership
  • Secure VanEck Canada ETF strategies on approved product lists, recommended lists, and discretionary model portfolios at partner dealer firms; expand shelf presence as the product platform grows
  • Drive inclusion of VanEck ETF strategies on dealer platforms and in UMA, discretionary, and fund/ETF model structures
  • Deepen and expand dealer partnerships by fully understanding the strategic initiatives and philosophy of partner organizations, identifying opportunities where VanEck Canada can align with or support these initiatives
  • Collaborate internally with Senior Management, Investments, Marketing, Compliance, and the broader Distribution teams to support a coordinated and consistent approach to dealer partner engagement
  • Provide the field sales team with relevant, actionable intelligence about dealer partner developments, platform changes, and gatekeeper expectations — equipping them with compelling messaging to support advisor-level initiatives
  • Assess the merits of sponsorship opportunities, resource commitments, and participation in dealer events, client seminars, and due diligence meetings; present recommendations to senior leadership for approval
  • Work with dealer stakeholders to define success metrics, determine engagement strategies, and track VanEck Canada's platform penetration and AUM progress at each partner firm
  • Monitor the competitive environment across Canadian dealer platforms; identify threats and opportunities for cross-selling, new product placement, and strategic positioning
  • Regularly update leadership on the status of dealer relationships, platform developments, and any significant strategic matters; prepare executive summaries of partner relationship health
  • Participate in industry conferences and events to promote the VanEck Canada brand, build relationships with dealer executives and institutional consultants, and remain current on industry trends
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and accountability, while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented approach
Experience/Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a seasoned and successful National Accounts professional with established, meaningful relationships across Canada's major dealer firms and distribution networks. They should be well-known and respected by key decision-makers and influential executives within these institutions — including those in Platform, Research, Portfolio Construction, and senior leadership roles. They should have a strong working knowledge of how Canadian dealer platforms evaluate and approve ETF products, and a clear understanding of the discretionary and model portfolio landscape.

We may also consider candidates from investment management, dealer, or advisory backgrounds who can demonstrate significant dealer firm knowledge and relationships, platform expertise, and the ability to influence and execute at the enterprise level.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience at a Canadian ETF issuer or asset manager in a national accounts or dealer relations role
  • Familiarity with VanEck's core asset classes: gold, precious metals, emerging markets, digital assets, or thematic equity strategies
  • Existing relationships with Portfolio Construction, Due Diligence, or Platform teams at major Canadian dealer firms
  • Experience in a start-up or early-stage asset management environment
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset
