Job summary

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) seeks a Director, Legal Services to lead our legal function at the National Office in Ottawa, ON. You will provide strategic legal counsel to senior management, the COO, and the Board, covering corporate matters, contracts, litigation, and privacy.

This role oversees internal and external resources, ensures governance compliance, and leads the Office of Dispute Resolution while guiding a team of legal professionals in a complex

Qualifications

• J.D. or equivalent law degree with good standing in a Canadian law society.
• 8–10 years of progressive legal experience, including senior advisory work.
• Experience managing legal staff and complex matters.
• Fluency in both official languages (French and English) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic legal counsel to senior management and board.
• Oversee corporate, contractual, litigation, privacy, and dispute resolution matters.
• Coordinate external counsel and monitor legal expenditures.
• Lead governance matters and ensure privacy compliance across the organization.
• Develop budget proposals and supervise legal staff performance.
