Job summary

The Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement is seeking a Senior Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist to lead PIAs for new technologies, information systems, or programs, ensuring compliance with privacy laws such as FIPPA, PHIPA, and PIPEDA. Based in Toronto, this onsite role requires strong analytical skills and policy knowledge.

You will coordinate with IPC, ministries, and stakeholders, manage PIA work intake and timing, and provide strategic advice on privacy

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of privacy and security concepts and their impact on business processes.
• Experience researching and applying information privacy laws and regulations.
• Familiarity with OPS Privacy Impact Assessment Process and Tools.
• Good understanding of IT security, IT system design, policy development, and risk management.
• Analytical skills to assess privacy implications of policies and initiatives.
• Knowledge of data flows, information architecture, and IT concepts related to personal data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and development of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
• Ensure programs comply with FIPPA, PIPEDA, PHIPA, and related privacy laws.
• Coordinate with IPC, ministries, and stakeholders on privacy requirements.
• Manage PIA intake queues and resource allocation.
• Provide guidance and leadership to staff on privacy assessment activities.
• Engage with cross-cluster and Ministry teams on privacy commitments.
• Assess I&T implications of policy proposals and governance strategies.
• Communicate privacy risks and mitigation strategies to technical and business audiences.
