Job summary

MOVATI Athletic is seeking a strategic Director of Learning & Development to shape how employees learn, develop and grow within a hybrid Toronto-based environment.

You will lead the Learning & Development function, partner with senior leaders to translate business needs into learning solutions, and drive measurable impact on performance and career progression.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development.
• Experience in strategic learning planning and capability development.
• Experience leading organizational learning initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
• Experience with LMS and learning technologies.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to translate business priorities into learning solutions.
• Leadership development or succession planning experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organization's learning strategy with multi-year roadmaps and capability frameworks aligned with business priorities.
• Identify capability gaps and lead learning initiatives to strengthen employee performance and career progression.
• Define and advance the learning technology and AI strategy.
• Provide strategic oversight of the LMS and the design/delivery of instructor-led, virtual and eLearning programs.
• Establish learning metrics and success measures to evaluate program impact.
• Lead learning project prioritization, resource planning and continuous improvement.
• Partner with senior leaders to translate business needs into effective learning solutions.
• Ensure learning initiatives reflect MOVATI's Service Excellence standards and Core Values.
• Lead, coach and develop the Learning team.

Role:

• Develop and execute the organization's learning strategy, including multi-year roadmaps and capability frameworks aligned with business priorities and growth.
• Identify organizational capability gaps and lead learning initiatives that strengthen employee performance, leadership development and career progression.
• Define and advance the learning technology and AI strategy, leveraging innovative solutions to enhance learning effectiveness and accessibility.
• Provide strategic oversight of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the design and delivery of engaging instructor-led, virtual and eLearning programs.
• Establish learning metrics and success measures to evaluate program effectiveness, employee development and business impact.
• Lead learning project prioritization, resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
• Partner with senior leaders, Operations, People & Culture and subject matter experts to translate business needs into effective learning solutions.
• Ensure learning initiatives reflect MOVATI's Service Excellence standards, Core Values and Institute of Excellence brand.
• Lead, coach and develop the Learning team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Education, Organizational Development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, including developing and implementing organizational learning strategies and programs.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic learning planning, capability development and leading organizational learning initiatives.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing employees.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, learning technologies and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Strong business acumen, project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business priorities into effective learning solutions.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Experience with leadership development, succession planning or employee career development initiatives is considered an asset.
