The City of Burnaby seeks a Director of IT Enterprise Systems to lead critical IT initiatives. The Director, IT Enterprise Systems is a senior leader in business and technology who reports to the Chief Information Officer and leads the planning, organization, and management of IT Enterprise Systems initiatives supporting the city’s vision of creating and sustaining the best quality of life for the community. The Director oversees the design, implementation, operation, and support of IT systems and programs such as enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, business intelligence, data analytics, digital services, and cloud computing. The role involves participating in organization-wide initiatives and collaborating with IT leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment of IT strategies, policies, and standards. The Director provides leadership in managing business applications, security, access controls, reporting infrastructure, and integration between applications. Budget management within approved limits for Business Applications & Support initiatives is also required. Performs related duties as needed.
Qualifications include a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, with a minimum of eight years of progressive senior management experience, preferably in municipal government. Certification in project management, process engineering, IT service management, or software development lifecycle methodologies is desirable. The role requires thorough knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, legislation, industry trends, and standards applicable to the work, as well as extensive knowledge of City rules, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, and operations. The ability to apply technology standards to enterprise systems, supervise staff, manage transformational change, handle complex projects, develop innovative solutions, and exercise sound judgment is essential. A Driver’s Licence for British Columbia is required.
