Director IT Business Management

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a strategic and operational leader to strengthen how Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) plans, allocates and governs technology investment. The Director orchestrates EIT's integrated business-management rhythm, connecting strategy, annual planning, portfolio governance, financial performance and value realization to support timely, informed leadership decisions. This role also creates clearer visibility into the cost, consumption and value of technology products and services.

Salary Range

138,400.00 - 188,400.00 CAD

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Sr Director Business Management & Delivery Enablement, you will be empowered to:

  • Lead and develop the IT Business Management team spanning technology planning and performance, portfolio operations, technology acquisition and invoice management, and vendor advisory.
  • Own and orchestrate EIT's annual business-planning process, integrating technology strategy, portfolio investments, operational commitments, financial plans, workforce and resource requirements into a coherent divisional plan.
  • Lead EIT's integrated portfolio and performance-management rhythm, connecting the annual business review with recurring portfolio reviews to assess priorities, investment, capacity, financial performance, delivery confidence, risks and value realization and to drive leadership decisions and follow-through.
  • Drive technology financial stewardship through analysis, forecasting, benchmarking, cost optimization, investment governance and monthly performance review. Translate cost, consumption and portfolio insights into financial strategies and recommendations.
  • Establish and govern the FinOps capability, including cloud cost allocation, show back and, where appropriate, chargeback practices, forecasting and variance analysis, product and service cost transparency, unit economics and cost-to-serve reporting.
  • Work with Cloud, Engineering, Data and AI leaders to embed FinOps accountability into planning, architecture, delivery and operational decisions.
  • Lead executive dashboards, value reporting and performance packages that connect technology spending and consumption to financial performance, operational outcomes, risks and realized business value.
  • Partner with Finance and Procurement on expenditure controls, acquisition and invoice management, vendor governance and commercial practices; lead supplier performance and benchmarking.
  • Establish benefits-management and value-realization practices, facilitate governance forums, and champion adoption of TBM, ITFM and FinOps across EIT.
  • Build strong relationships, provide constructive challenge and create an inclusive environment in which employees are coached, empowered and able to lead.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Technology Business Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7-10 years of progressively senior experience across technology business management, technology financial management, portfolio management, enterprise planning, governance or performance management, with 5+ years leading and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish new capabilities while operating and improving critical enterprise planning, financial and governance processes.
  • Strong technology fluency, with the ability to engage Cloud, Engineering, Architecture, Data and AI leaders on consumption drivers, economic trade-offs and investment decisions.
  • Experience with TBM, cloud cost-management, financial-planning, portfolio-management or business-intelligence platforms, including data quality, allocation models and management reporting. Familiarity with Apptio or Cloudability is an asset.
  • Experience leading enterprise planning, budgeting, forecasting, portfolio governance and executive performance reporting, and serving as a trusted advisor to senior technology leaders.
  • Experience with technology vendor governance, commercial management, supplier performance and benchmarking.
  • Experience establishing or running a FinOps capability is strongly preferred. Experience in product-centric, agile or hybrid delivery environments is also valued.
  • Professional designation or certification such as CPA, TBM, ITFM, FinOps or portfolio management is considered an asset.
Core Capabilities
  • Technology business and financial management, including TBM, ITFM and FinOps
