Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Insider Risk and Asset Protection Director in the Greater Toronto Area. This role focuses on identifying, assessing, and safeguarding assets including applications, intellectual property, and physical infrastructure. The position involves cross-departmental collaboration, ongoing control reviews, stakeholder engagement, and risk management to ensure effective controls and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk-based controls to detect and prevent unauthorized access and misuse, enhancing monitoring practices.
• Review high-risk application areas for compliance with policies and standards.
• Communicate improvements and enhancements across reporting levels.
• Recommend and establish enhanced controls, maturing data analytics and oversight functions.
• Build and maintain relationships with risk and operational partners.
• Manage issue tracking and resolution processes.
• Create and maintain procedural documentation.
• Lead and manage a team to deliver ongoing protection and oversight across RBC.

Qualifications

Must-have:

• Understanding of data protection risks, exposures, and mitigation controls.
• Minimum 3 years risk management experience.
• Experience with behavior-based monitoring and relevant technologies.
• Knowledge of emerging threats and trends in insider risk management.
• Experience managing large-scale application assessments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in audit, operational support, data protection, or governance.

Nice-to-have:

• Industry certifications such as CASP+/CISSP/CISA.
• Knowledge of financial services applications and processes.
• Familiarity with IT standards, methodologies, and audit requirements.
