Job summary

The IWA–Forest Industry Pension & LTD Plans, based in Burnaby, is seeking a Director of Information Technology to drive the organization's technology strategy and ensure reliable, scalable IT operations.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director will lead a small IT team, strengthen governance and cybersecurity, advance modernization, and align technology with long-term business objectives to support thousands of members and participating employers.

Job description

The IWA–Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans have been supporting the financial security of Canadian forestry workers and their families for more than five decades. With over $5 billion in assets under management, more than 350+ participating employers and approximately 65,000+ pension members, alongside over 7,200+ LTD members across Western Canada, the Plan Office administers one of British Columbia's largest private sector pension plans. Guided by independent Boards of Trustees representing both labour and industry, the organization is recognized for its prudent stewardship, exceptional member service and collaborative culture. As it embarks on its Digital Journey to 2030, the Plan Office is making significant investments in technology, governance and innovation to strengthen service delivery while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Plans.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a key member of a small leadership team, the Director, Information Technology provides strategic leadership for the Plan Office's technology function, ensuring information technology enables the organization's strategic objectives, operational excellence and long-term sustainability. The Director is responsible for executing the organization's technology vision and roadmap, overseeing secure, reliable and scalable IT operations, and ensuring technology investments support exceptional service delivery to members, participating employers and internal stakeholders. The Director leads the IT team, strengthens governance, cybersecurity and regulatory compliance, and works collaboratively across the organization to modernize systems, improve business processes and advance digital transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished IT leader with broad experience spanning enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity and IT governance with experience in an organization with parallels to the Plan Office, such as being highly regulated, mid-sized, and/or serving members. Demonstrated success establishing strategic priorities and executing multi-year modernization initiatives that strengthen technology capabilities, improve service delivery and support long-term organizational objectives is required. The preferred candidate will have played a key role modernizing technology and strengthening organizational capabilities by instilling a culture of accountability.

In accordance with BC’s Pay Transparency Act, the position has an expected salary range of $170,000 - $195,000
