Job description

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Process Engineering, you will lead a high-performing team of RPA engineers, automation architects, and business analysts who design, build, and deploy intelligent automation solutions across the organization.

As a strategic people leader and technical innovator, you will drive the adoption of cutting-edge RPA and AI-enabled automation technologies—including Blue Prism, UiPath, Power Platform, and emerging intelligent automation capabilities to transform how CIBC operates.

You will serve as a thought leader and champion for intelligent process automation, partnering directly with business unit leaders and technology teams to identify high-impact opportunities, define automation strategies, and deliver solutions that drive measurable business value.

We work across the organization to identify processes for automation and implement intelligent solutions that deliver value to our employees and clients, reducing wasted time, improving efficiencies, and enhancing the customer experience.

We leverage Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, workflow optimization, and digital operational best practices to continuously improve, sustain, and maintain our automation ecosystem.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed
  • People leadership - Lead and develop a world-class automation team that combines deep RPA expertise with emerging AI and intelligent automation capabilities.
  • Coach, mentor, and empower engineers and analysts to grow their technical skills and deliver excellence.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and accountability.
  • Strategy development - Design and execute strategic automation roadmaps that align with CIBC's business objectives and competitive priorities.
  • Translate complex business challenges into scalable, intelligent automation solutions.
  • Partner with business leaders to quantify ROI, prioritize initiatives, and secure executive sponsorship for transformational programs.
  • Innovation leadership - Drive the adoption of next-generation automation technologies, including AI-powered process intelligence, and intelligent document processing.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and evaluate emerging platforms and capabilities that can unlock new automation opportunities and competitive advantages.
  • Solution delivery - Collaborate seamlessly with business and technology partners to understand operating processes, identify automation opportunities, and co-design solutions that deliver measurable impact.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization and serve as a trusted advisor on automation strategy and best practices.
  • Stakeholder partnership - Advocate for process engineering and automation excellence across the bank to meet productivity targets and drive organizational culture change.
  • Present compelling business cases, share success stories, and champion the value of intelligent automation to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement - Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and digital operational methodologies to continuously improve, sustain, and optimize the automation ecosystem.
  • Ensure solutions deliver lasting value and evolve as business needs change.
  • Identify and remove barriers that slow process improvement and automation delivery.
  • Provide strategic guidance on complex projects, manage dependencies across business units and technology teams, and track progress against key metrics including cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and customer/employee satisfaction.
Who you are

Deep expertise in RPA and intelligent automation technologies, with hands-on experience implementing solutions using UiPath, Blue Prism, or similar enterprise RPA platforms.

Demonstrated knowledge of AI-enabled automation capabilities such as intelligent document processing, process mining, and cognitive automation.

Proven people leadership experience managing technical teams in fast-paced, complex environments.

You inspire, develop, and hold your team accountable for delivering high-quality solutions on time and on budget.

Track record of delivering large, complex automation programs with multiple strategic, business, and technical components in multi-channel, multi-product environments.

You can contextualize initiatives within organizational strategy and customer needs.

Strong process management and continuous improvement expertise, including hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and project management methodologies.

You understand how to design, measure, and optimize processes for maximum impact.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills that enable you to build consensus, gain commitment, and influence decision-making across organizational boundaries.

You can translate technical concepts for business audiences and business requirements for technical teams.

Strategic consulting mindset with the ability to identify root causes, develop innovative solutions, and guide organizations through complex transformations.

You bring business acumen and a focus on measurable outcomes.

Change leadership capability.

You embrace and champion continuous evolution, empower your team to innovate and improve, and drive organizational adoption of new ways of working.

You live your values. You bring high standards, genuine care to your relationships, and want to grow with an employer that shares your values and brings out your best.
