Job summary

Extendicare seeks a Director of HR Operational Excellence to own design, re-engineering, and continuous improvement of HR processes across the employee lifecycle. You will oversee processes supported by Workday and ServiceNow, ensuring standardized, well-documented workflows that are scalable and meet a high-quality employee experience.

This hybrid role is located at our Markham head office. You will lead cross-functional teams, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and build knowledge

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in HR, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field; master's preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required; Black Belt preferred.
• Professional HR designation (CHRP/CHRL) is considered a strong asset.
• Minimum 7–10 years of progressive HR operations or organizational transformation experience, including at least 3 years in a director or senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated success leading end-to-end HR process re-engineering initiatives, from diagnosis through to sustainable implementation.
• Working knowledge of Workday HCM business processes, with the ability to assess how process changes interact with system configurations.
• Experience in a complex, multi-site organization; unionized environment experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of HR processes across the employee lifecycle, ensuring standardization and scalability.
• Lead re-engineering of inefficient, fragmented HR processes using Lean/Six Sigma.
• Direct ServiceNow HRSD platform to support ESC operations and employee self-service.
• Maintain updated HR process maps and SOPs accessible to teams.
• Establish and promote HR process design standards across HR functions and communities.
• Lead a portfolio of continuous improvement initiatives across HR operations.
• Apply diagnostic tools to identify root causes and translate findings into improvement plans.
• Develop business cases with baselines, benefits, costs, and risks for improvements.
• Ensure redesigned processes are trained, embedded, and measured before closure.
