About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to join our Corporate Support division at Sun Life. This key leadership role will report directly to the Assistant Vice President of the Corporate Segment and will be responsible for driving financial excellence across our corporate Support. The ideal candidate will oversee financial planning and analysis, provide strategic insights, and lead a team in delivering critical financial reporting and analysis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact our organization's financial performance, collaborate with senior leaders, and contribute to Sun Life's long-term success.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the annual budgeting, long-term strategic planning, and forecasting processes to align with company goals.
  • Consolidate and build presentations on budgets, forecasts and quarterly performance reporting, translating complex financial data into actionable financial insights.
  • Accountable for the Corporate Support P & L, partnering with Tax, Treasury, Actuarial and Investments teams on plan, forecast, financial performance and targets.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Meet with Corporate senior leaders to provide quarterly reporting and analysis which form the input into the external MD&A.
  • Partner with senior members of the Actuarial team on delivering the reporting and analysis on the sources of earnings for Corporate Support.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop 2 team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
Qualifications
  • Problem Solving: Ability to address complex issues across multiple stakeholders concurrently at the Corporate level.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect financial plans to forward-looking business objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Communication: Excellent ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Change Agent: Strong ability to drive change and operate in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail across multiple layers in expense management framework.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and Reporting, Tableau applications is an asset.
  • Finance and accounting designation (CPA, etc) with 8-10 years of Insurance and/or Financial Services industry experience.
  • Drive improvements in FP&A processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data capabilities.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and oversee internal and external control walkthroughs.
