The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis is a key member of Canadian Banking Finance, providing financial support to Canadian Commercial & Business Banking. This role contributes to strategic direction, results, and the integrity of financial systems and reporting within the business line. The position supports and leads in the following areas:

  1. Lead FP&A activities including planning, forecasting, and reporting of business line results.
  2. Enhance financial models and reporting packages for planning, tracking, and performance reporting.
  3. Improve financial planning and analysis, including the rollout of new tools and forecasting processes.
  4. Provide deeper financial insights focusing on product, segment, and channel profitability.
  5. Support stakeholder management within the business line, finance, and support functions.
  6. Collaborate with key partners in business, portfolio management, treasury, strategy, and operations.

In this role, the incumbent will work with leaders across various departments and lead multiple projects.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  1. Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage broad bank resources.
  2. Manage annual profit plans and forecasts, ensuring budget compliance.
  3. Oversee accurate forecasts by monitoring trends and liaising with field and partners.
  4. Identify drivers, resolve concerns, and provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
  5. Work with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely execution of initiatives.
  6. Lead the rollout of new planning tools and enhance financial reporting and KPIs.
  7. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports, KPIs, and dashboards.
  8. Review actuals versus plans, ensuring data accuracy and proper explanations.
  9. Build and maintain strong relationships within the organization.
  10. Evaluate and suggest alternatives to meet objectives efficiently.
  11. Support strategic projects and business case development.
  12. Ensure operational compliance with the bank's values, policies, and risk controls.
  13. Promote a high-performance, inclusive work environment.

Do you have the skills to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  1. A minimum of 7 years' experience in a related role with strong managerial accounting and financial management skills.
  2. Exceptional modeling skills, proficiency in Excel, and experience with systems like OBI, Hyperion, Smartstream, Anaplan.
  3. Attention to detail with strong analytical and presentation skills, including PowerPoint.
  4. Proactive communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Strong process management, planning, and organizational skills.
  6. Understanding of the bank’s financial policies and procedures.
  7. Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and demands.
  8. High curiosity, energy, commitment, and teamwork orientation.
