Job description

The Director, Finance Technology & Transformation is a critical enabler of Finance modernization and enterprise scale. This role owns the strategy, architecture, and execution of finance systems, integrations, and automation — ensuring that financial data, workflows, and insights flow seamlessly across the organization and franchise network.

As 1-800-GOT-JUNK? evolves toward a Product Operating Model, this leader will help shift Finance from manual processes to a connected, technology-enabled ecosystem. They will partner closely with Finance, Product, and Technology leaders to ensure financial systems evolve in lockstep with new products, pricing models, payment flows, and operating rhythms.

The Director, Finance Technology & Transformation combines financial process knowledge with systems thinking, technical fluency, and cross-functional leadership. They bring structure to complexity, simplify workflows, and ensure Finance technology supports better decisions — not just better reporting.

This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Technology, Product, and the Field. The Director, Finance Technology & Transformation enables Finance to move faster, think smarter, and scale confidently — automating the manual, simplifying the complex, and ensuring financial systems support the company’s next phase of growth.

Your Impact & What You'll Own
  • Finance Systems Strategy & Architecture: Own the end-to-end finance systems architecture, ensuring alignment across ERP, CRM, payments, FP&A, and BI platforms. Design scalable, resilient system landscapes that support growth, product expansion, and franchise complexity. Act as the enterprise steward of how financial data moves, connects, and is consumed.
  • Integration & Data Flow Enablement: Lead the design and delivery of system integrations using integration platforms and native APIs. Ensure timely, accurate, and reliable data flows between finance, product, and operational systems. Establish data governance principles that support a single source of truth and enterprise confidence in financial data.
  • Product & Technology Partnership: Partner with Product and Technology teams to ensure finance systems support new products, pricing models, and customer journeys. Translate financial requirements into system capabilities early in the product lifecycle. Support experimentation and iteration while maintaining financial discipline and controls.
  • Leadership, Delivery & Governance: Lead and develop a high-performing team and vendor ecosystem. Set clear priorities, manage dependencies, and drive delivery with accountability. Establish governance for finance systems changes, enhancements, and adoption.
  • Automation & Process Modernization: Lead the roadmap to automate and optimize core finance processes, including close, AR/AP, forecasting, and reporting. Reduce manual effort and operational risk by simplifying workflows and eliminating redundant processes. Ensure automation efforts balance efficiency, control, and business usability.
  • Franchise & Field Enablement: Collaborate with franchise partners and field teams to design integrations and tools that simplify their financial workflows. Ensure finance systems scale across the franchise network while respecting local realities and adoption needs. Act as a bridge between enterprise systems and on-the-ground execution.
What You Bring To The Table
  • 8 - 12+ years of experience across software engineering, systems architecture, financial technology, enterprise applications, or finance technology transformation, with a strong track record of building and scaling technology solutions.
  • Strong engineering and coding foundation — with hands-on experience in JavaScript and/or TypeScript and the ability to write, review, troubleshoot, and understand production code. Comfortable working with APIs, webhooks, databases, data pipelines, and integration frameworks.
  • Advanced integration and data-flow expertise — proven ability to connect systems and make them work together across platforms, data warehouses, and SaaS applications using APIs, middleware, integration platforms, and custom solutions, while ensuring reliable, accurate, and traceable data flows.
  • Strong technical understanding of modern data and cloud architecture, including relational databases, SQL, APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, cloud data platforms, event-driven integrations, and integration technologies. Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or similar is highly valued.
  • Systems thinker and problem solver who can look across the entire technology ecosystem, identify gaps and points of failure, and determine whether the right solution is configuration, integration, automation, or custom development.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building from the ground up — able to simplify complex problems, make pragmatic technology decisions, and create scalable solutions without over-engineering. Ability to work closely with Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, and Operations teams and translate between business needs and technical solutions.
  • Builder mentality — curious, hands-on, and willing to get into the details. You don't just identify that two systems need to connect; you understand how they should connect and can work with engineers or vendors to make it happen.
  • Understanding of finance processes such as order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, month-end close, revenue and payments is an asset
  • Experience working with Netsuite or finance systems and applications is an asset
