Job summary

Forward Church Cambridge seeks a Director of Community Engagement for a part-time role (20 hours/week) based at our Cambridge site. You will mobilize volunteers, form Serve the World Teams, and partner with ministry leaders to serve neighbours and guide people toward deeper discipleship.

You will oversee our benevolent ministry, meet people in need, and help create a welcoming, caring space where anyone belongs, in alignment with our faith statements.

• Strong relationship-building with partners and staff.

At Forward Church, our mission has always been simple: make disciples of Jesus who love God, love others, and serve the world. This role exists for the third part of that mission: finding real, practical ways for Forward Church Cambridge to serve the region we call home.

As our Director of Community Engagement, you will build Serve the World Teams in different corners of our community, giving people from our church real, ongoing ways to serve their own neighbourhoods, whether that is through a special outreach event or a season of Alpha. You will help turn our Cambridge site into a true community centre: forming partnerships with local agencies who need a space to meet and creating a welcome so warm that everyone who walks through our doors, member or stranger, feels like they belong. And when someone in our community hits a hard place, you will be the one who meets them there. You will manage our benevolent ministry, sit with people to understand what they actually need, and walk alongside them toward the kind of care and community that helps people heal for good.

You will not do this alone. You will partner closely with our Adult, Children, and Youth Ministry leaders so the people you meet find their way into deeper discipleship at Forward Church.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who knows how to find volunteer leaders, train them well, and set them up to succeed. You are as comfortable behind a laptop as you are across a table from someone in a hard season, and you cannot help but care about this community.

This is a part-time role, 20 hours a week, based at our Cambridge site and accountable to our Lead Pastor who oversees Community Engagement.

The person who fills this role must agree in belief and practice with our Statement of Faith and our Lifestyle Statement.
