Job description

Job Description

The Director of Business Marketing leads strategic marketing for RBC Capital Markets’ Canadian businesses, including Corporate and Investment Banking, Global Markets, Sustainable Finance, Global Transaction Banking, and Research. Reporting to the Global Head of Client & Marketing Strategy, you drive business growth by translating strategic priorities into integrated business and product marketing programs.

There is also a large global component to this role as you will be responsible as a key stakeholder on strategic global initiatives in addition to leading many of the business marketing thought leadership and product marketing programs.

What will you do?
  • Strategy & Planning – Develop and execute the annual Canadian business marketing plan aligned with strategic initiatives. Prioritize programs, allocate budgets, and conduct quarterly business reviews. Translate global brand positioning into market-relevant Canadian messaging and support global strategic initiatives.
  • Product Marketing & Go-to-Market – Partner with business leaders to develop positioning, naming, value propositions, and messaging for Canadian-led platforms and capabilities. Strategically develop and execute go-to-market plans for product campaigns and business-as-usual activities.
  • Flagship Events & Client Programs – Play a central role in developing marketing activation plans and executing marquee Canadian events, working closely with partners in RBC Capital Markets Conferences & Events, RBC Thought Leadership, and external partners (such as Eurasia Group and Milken Institute). Direct content strategy, branding, and client engagement around events to maximize business impact.
  • Deal & Credential Marketing – Own deal promotion tactics and strategy for the Canadian market, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance sign-off across all deliverables.
  • Banker & Sales Enablement – Develop and deliver sales enablement tools that empower the firm and specific business groups, including factsheets, capability one-pagers, client-facing insights, and talking points tailored to product and sector needs.
  • Thought Leadership Distribution & Campaigns – Partner with the Content & Insights team to transform Canadian insights—including economics and market strategy, RBCCM research, sector views, and deal perspectives—into targeted campaigns aligned with business priorities and core content themes. Own the Canadian campaign calendar and creative briefs. Collaborate with Digital Marketing on paid, owned, and earned-media distribution.
  • Global Program Leadership – Lead strategic planning, budget development, execution, and reporting for marquee global marketing programs where Canada plays a key role, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities.
What you need to succeed?

The right candidate has run marketing inside an investment bank, broker-dealer or institutional asset manager and can hold their own with sector heads on strategy, not just execution.

  • 12+ years in B2B financial services marketing, including 5+ in capital markets or investment banking; Canadian market knowledge and relationships
  • Fluent in M&A, ECM/DCM, league tables, sales and trading, and the regulatory constraints on deal and performance marketing
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and tactically to drive business outcomes
  • Product marketing track record: has positioned and launched platforms or capabilities to institutional and corporate buyers to drive adoption
  • Commercial judgment: prioritizes against revenue impact and says no with a rationale
