Purpose

The Director, Business Development leads growth strategies, primarily through acquiring experienced advisors in the region. Responsibilities include regional recruitment, working with stakeholders such as Regional Directors, Branch Managers, and Wealth Management partners, and overseeing business development activities and engagement efforts from Regional Management. The role also involves advisor onboarding and integration coaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead regional advisor acquisition, meet growth targets for AUA, develop strategic recruitment plans, and own the Advisor Value Proposition.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle—from networking and due diligence to deal approval and onboarding—ensuring seamless transition to branch teams.
  • Build strategic alliances with Regional Directors, Branch Managers, and other stakeholders to support recruitment and onboarding.
  • Leverage external networks, including Centres of Influence, to generate referrals and enhance Scotia Wealth Management's community profile.
  • Consider the bank’s risk appetite and culture in all activities.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk management in line with Scotiabank’s values and policies.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of the wealth management industry, market trends, client needs, and regulatory environment.
  • 10+ years of senior-level experience in wealth advisory business development and leadership.
  • Established network of internal and external stakeholders, including Centres of Influence.
  • Strong understanding of applicable investment management regulations.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to identify business opportunities and develop strategic solutions.
