Job description

Director - Business Development
About PSPSync

PSPSync Limited is a dynamic and growing provider of Patient Support Program (PSP) services, delivering innovative, technology-enabled solutions that simplify access to therapies for patients across Canada. We partner closely with healthcare providers, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers to deliver patient-centric programs that improve outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of privacy, security, and compliance.

About the Role

PSPSync is seeking a strategic, results-oriented Director, Business Development to lead revenue growth, new client acquisition and strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers across Canada. This is a hands‑on commercial role built on three pillars: winning RFPs, proactive client outreach and market research that tells us where to compete next. You will own the full pursuit cycle, from identifying an opportunity in the Canadian drug pipeline to leading the bid defense and handing a signed program to our Operations team. As PSPSync grows, you will also build and mentor the business development and proposal team.

Key Responsibilities
RFPs and Proposals
  • Lead the end-to-end RFI and RFP process, including bid/no-bid decisions, timelines, compliance matrices and final submissions.
  • Bring together Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Quality, Finance and IT/Data to build compelling, compliant responses.
  • Develop business cases, financial models, pricing and commercial proposals that are competitive and profitable.
  • Craft win themes that showcase SyncSight™, our centralized and decentralized PSP models and our bilingual national reach.
  • Prepare and lead client presentations, capability demos and bid defense meetings.
  • Build and maintain a proposal content library, templates and past-performance case studies; run win/loss debriefs to improve win rates.
Client Outreach and Relationships
  • Identify and pursue new pharmaceutical and biotech clients, with a focus on specialty, biosimilars and newly launching therapies entering the Canadian market.
  • Build executive industry relationships with Market Access, Patient Services, Brand and Commercial leaders, as well as other relevant industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute account plans and outreach campaigns; represent PSPSync at industry events and conferences.
  • Grow existing accounts by expanding into RWE support, copay cards, pharmacovigilance and new indications.
  • Lead contract negotiations with support from Legal and Finance.
  • Manage the pipeline and forecasting in Salesforce; ensure smooth handoff to Operations at program launch.
  • Ensure every client interaction reflects PSPSync's standard for quality and partnership.
Market Research and Competitive Intelligence
  • Track the Canadian drug pipeline, including published manufacturer pipelines, Health Canada approvals, CDA-AMC reviews, pCPA negotiations and provincial listings, to spot PSP opportunities early.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape among Canadian PSP providers and specialty pharmacy networks; maintain competitor profiles and pricing insights.
  • Analyze trends in patient support, market access, biosimilars, digital health and privacy regulation to shape service offerings.
  • Share insights with leadership to shape our services, positioning and go‑to‑market plans.
Strategy, Team and Performance
  • Create and deliver the annual business development strategy, with clear revenue and market growth targets.
  • Manage the business development budget, sales forecasts and pipeline metrics in Salesforce.
  • Monitor sales performance and client engagement analytics, and report results to the executive team.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Marketing and Technology to deliver on what we promise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Sciences or Life Sciences, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years in sales or business development within the Canadian healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, with a consistent record of exceeding revenue targets.
  • Direct experience selling Patient Support Programs, hub services, specialty pharmacy or commercialization services to manufacturers.
  • A proven track record of leading complex RFP responses and winning multi-year contracts.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian market access landscape: Health Canada, CADA, CDA-AM, pCPA, public and private payers, and specialty drug distribution.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles and enterprise clients.
  • Strong financial acumen, including pricing, forecasting, budgeting, building business cases and ROI analysis.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation and negotiation skills, with the executive presence to influence senior healthcare leaders.
  • Working knowledge of CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) and proposal management practices.
Preferred
  • MBA or related Master’s degree.
  • Established relationships with Canadian pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with pharmacovigilance and Canadian privacy requirements (PIPEDA, PHIPA).
  • Experience building and leading a business development or proposal team.
  • Bilingual in English and French is a bonus.
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) certification.
