About the role

We're looking for two (2) Director, Actuarial Personal Lines, and one (1) Director, Actuarial Commercial Lines.

Our Actuarial team is expected to position and monitor insurance portfolios to ensure sustainable quality of the book of business and achieve CR outperformance. You will deliver product, project, and solutions while respecting quality and timelines and proactively manage priorities, inefficiencies, delays, scope changes, and other challenges with stakeholders, team members, and executives.

You will communicate the vision and priorities efficiently to the teams and influence stakeholders to gather necessary support and achieve strategic alignment. A key part of this supervisory role is to attract, develop, engage, and retain key talents within the team and the company by setting clear objectives, managing priorities, and providing technical guidance and leadership. It is expected that you will proactively identify and manage issues with managers and team members and be present and visible to the team while demonstrating our leadership success factors.

What you'll do here :
  • Manage your team’s operations by organizing, planning, and monitoring the optimal use of human resources in accordance with the company’s strategic objectives and budget.
  • Represent the Actuarial function on company task forces and committees and act as a point of contact for other business units.
  • Represent the Actuarial team in discussions with distribution teams and other actuarial teams regarding national initiatives.
  • Manage national projects respecting scope, resources, and timelines.
  • Manage performance reviews, training, coaching, and career development of your team members to attain the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Foster teamwork and lead training and development for team members.
  • Manage and provide technical guidance to your staff responsible for conducting actuarial studies and activities (reserves, financial projections, regulatory reporting, etc.).
What you bring to the table :
  • Solid actuarial experience including at least four years in management.
  • University Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional experience in P&C insurance.
  • FICA and FCAS designation preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions independently and collaboratively.
  • Leading by vision and values.
  • Outstanding skills in negotiating, driving engagement, and developing strategic working relationships.
  • Ability to facilitate change through risk-taking.
