Role Summary/Purpose:

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining an effective environmental, health & safety program at our sites in Lachine and Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec. It involves developing and delivering on-site safety training, leading safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The role requires interaction with all employees to assess hazards and implement safety practices, aiming to create a healthy and safe working environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Communicate, maintain, and oversee safety and hazardous communication programs and systems.
  2. Implement corporate health and safety programs and monitor their effectiveness.
  3. Track safety performance and develop safety analysis tools.
  4. Lead safety committees and conduct safety training programs.
  5. Investigate accidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  6. Conduct safety audits and inspections, and ensure corrective measures are taken.
  7. Review injury reports and ensure hazards are addressed.
  8. Oversee safety training for staff and contractors.
  9. Assist with ergonomic assessments and workplace improvements.
  10. Coordinate hazard assessments and safety communications.
  11. Act as liaison with government safety authorities (CNESST).
  12. Manage workers' compensation programs and related reporting.
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • At least five (5) years of experience in health and safety roles.
  • Diploma or certificate in environmental, health, and safety fields is an asset.
  • Experience in manufacturing safety environments.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial and federal safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in French and English is required.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Risk identification and corrective program development experience.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation laws and facility maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
