Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA in Ontario is seeking a Dining Hall Supervisor to lead daily front-of-house operations in a large, fast-paced dining environment. The role requires strong customer service skills, passion for hospitality, and knowledge of food safety and allergen awareness.

You will supervise and coach front-of-house staff, monitor temperatures and sanitation, and ensure a seamless dining experience for students and customers during all service periods.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience in dining hall or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, temperatures, and sanitation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service.
  • Calm, organized, and solution-focused under high volume.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to motivate and hold team accountable.
  • Food Handler Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily dining hall operations and ensure a welcoming, efficient, and positive experience for students and customers.
  • Lead, coach, and support front-of-house employees while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Monitor food temperatures, allergen controls, food presentation, portioning, and service standards.
  • Ensure cleaning, sanitation, and health and safety procedures are consistently followed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dining room throughout all service periods.
  • Engage regularly with students and customers, respond to feedback, and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Coordinate service flow during busy periods and ensure all stations are properly staffed and operational.
  • Complete opening, closing, sanitation, temperature, and operational checklists accurately.
  • Communicate operational needs, staffing concerns, and customer feedback to the management team.
  • Support training and onboarding of new employees.
  • Assist with inventory control, merchandising, restocking, and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client expectations, and applicable food safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-focused in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to motivate and hold team members accountable.
  • Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
