Job summary

Finance Professionals Inc. is seeking a Digital Product Designer in Downtown Toronto for a 12-month hybrid role.

You will craft exceptional digital experiences across web and native apps, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting to analyze, design, and convey your design vision. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in digital product design, a strong portfolio, and proven experience applying research to design decisions.

Qualifications

Location: Hybrid (Downtown, Toronto)

Duration: 12 months

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Digital Product Designer to create across each of our digital products. You’ll work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design and convey your design vision. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of Canada's Top 5 Banks.

Typical Day in role:

• You’ll use your expertise to delight users with designs that inspire, engage and excite. A natural problem solver, communicator and facilitator, you’ll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.

Must-Have Skills:

• Advanced digital product design across both interaction and visual design, for responsive web and native apps
• Strong visual craft: typography, visual hierarchy, layout, and concepting
• Experience designing with, and contributing to, complex design systems
• Lean UX within Agile dev teams
• Usability research and testing to validate solutions
• Portfolio that includes application design samples
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
• Experience in an applied research setting including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
• Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rational and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions
• Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Has worked with large design teams and multiple stakeholders (product, business, technical)
• Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, and information architecture
• Advanced Figma experience
• Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
• Appreciation for the potential of 'design thinking'
• Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment
• Workshop facilitation is a nice to have.

Soft Skills Required:

Strong communication and presentation skills. Able to collaborate with other designers and cross-functional team members, manage stakeholders, and build relationships.

Education:

• BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field
