Job summary

City of Edmonton, through the Edmonton Public Library, seeks a Digital Communications Specialist to manage EPL.ca, intranet, and microsites using WordPress/Squarespace/Drupal. You’ll ensure accessible, structured content, improve information architecture, and optimize journeys for diverse users.

You will coordinate platform enhancements, test updates, and analyze performance with GA4, GTM, and other tools, while supporting digital campaigns and governance across EPL.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in digital communications or related field.
• Minimum three years managing content-heavy websites or digital platforms in a complex environment.
• Hands-on experience with WordPress, Squarespace, Drupal or comparable CMS.
• Knowledge of web accessibility, UX, SEO, and content lifecycle practices.
• Experience with Google Analytics 4, GTM, Search Console, Ads or similar tools.
• HTML/CSS, responsive design, and JavaScript troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Figma for UX/UI design and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day web operations across EPL.ca, intranet and microsites using WordPress, Squarespace and Drupal.
• Publish, update, and retire content ensuring accessibility and brand alignment.
• Improve information architecture, navigation, metadata, SEO, and user journeys.
• Coordinate web requests, releases, testing, and updates with teams and vendors.
• Analyze website performance and suggest evidence-based improvements.
• Apply WCAG standards and conduct QA across digital properties.
• Administer Google properties for performance measurement and optimization.
• Maintain web governance and content lifecycle practices.
• Lead or support digital communications projects where web components are key.
• Represent Marketing & Communications on cross-functional teams and projects.
