Job summary

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni Communications, the Digital Communications Officer will serve as the in-house photographer, videographer and graphic designer for the advancement team. With the goal of connecting the Faculty with its alumni and donor audience, the incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the advancement website and actively contribute to the Faculty's social media presence, assisting with the development and implementation of content strategies.

The successful candidate will be highly creative and collaborative, with the technical skills to produce polished digital assets while working across the Faculty to ensure alignment of all content.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Video and photography to support advancement priorities.
  • Developing graphic designs, such as proposal and stewardship layouts, publications, newsletters, banners, logos, etc. while adhering to brand standards of the Faculty and University.
  • Leading the day-to-day management of advancement website to ensure timely, platform-tailored content that encourages engagement.
  • Assisting with the development of digital content strategies across a broad range of marketing/communication channels.
  • Staying abreast of research and student activities in the Faculty to pitch and create compelling content.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on the performance of digital channels/activities using tools like Google Analytics, feeding back to stakeholders and using the data to inform future activities.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in communication design, photography, videography or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of recent and related experience in a communications or marketing role creating visual content.
  • Minimum two years experience creatingvisual content for social media and other digital mediums using a varied mix of video, photography and basic graphic design.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and proven experience in producing digital content and digital best practice that engage audiences.
  • Experience using digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics to effectively monitor engagement.
  • Experience creating content under a master brand.
  • Experience in post production and editing of video and photography skills.
  • Previous experience using Wordpress or similar content management system.
  • Expertise in using Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and document layout tools and principles.
  • Excellent creative skills and a great eye for detail.
  • Highly developed organizational skills, with the ability to manage many projects simultaneously; must be able to deliver projects on time.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to also work independently and build professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated skills to utilize professionalism and sound judgment under pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex topics to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
