A leading healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Neonatal Dietetic Assistant for their NICU. This role involves developing nutrition care plans for pre-term and term neonates, managing the Milk Preparation Room, and ensuring compliance with feeding policies. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Applied Human Nutrition and experience in Pediatrics, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Working hours include days and evenings, with a focus on family-centered care and quality improvement.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at McMaster Children’s Hospital is comprised of a Level III NICU, a Level IIc nursery and a neonatal transport team, providing medical and surgical care to over 1,500 neonates and their families per year and serving a broad geographic area within southern Ontario. The interdisciplinary team provides family‑centered care with a strong focus on evidence‑based best practice and continuous quality improvement. McMaster NICU is actively involved in a number of collaborative quality improvement initiatives provincially, nationally and internationally.
The Neonatal Dietetic Assistant position would include: assisting in developing/monitoring nutrition care plans with a focus on the care of pre‑term and term neonates with complex nutritional needs while overseeing the Milk Preparation Room, including the analysis, preparation and fortification of breast milk and formula, inventory, stocking and the entering of orders into Meditech. This role would be responsible for feeding guidelines as well as policy and procedure compliance audits as they relate to the feeding of infants in the nurseries. Participation in student education and research as required.
Monday to Sunday; days, evenings.
