Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in Churchill is seeking a cook/baker to support the dietary needs of patients, staff, and visitors at the Churchill Health Centre.

Under the supervision of the Support Services Manager, you will prepare meals that meet therapeutic diets, maintain kitchen safety, and ensure quality service in a fast-paced hospital setting. This is an in-person, full-time role with day shifts and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Knowledge and/or certification in WHMIS.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Manager of Support Services, the cook/baker ensures the dietary needs of patients, employees, and customers are met on a daily basis.
  • Prepare meals daily in accordance with dietary restrictions and therapeutic diet requirements.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager of Support Services, the cook/baker ensures the dietary needs of patients, employees, and customers are met on a daily basis.

Experience
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting.
  • Previous experience in a dietary/food service setting.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized food preparation program.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Knowledge and/or certification in WHMIS.
Physical Requirements
  • Bending and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of sharp tools such as knives and industrial equipment.
  • Long periods of time standing during each shift.
  • Exposure to different chemicals.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
