Job summary

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our Food Services team. You’ll interact with patients and staff, participate in meal service, food preparation, and inventory support, and develop skills in customer service, teamwork, and food safety.

Qualifications

• TrainCan Food Safety Training and Certification is required.
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required.
• Preferred: previous experience in hospital food service.
• Preferred: 1 year food service experience in a hospital or long-term care setting.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Assembles patient meal trays with therapeutic diets.
• Participate in tray assembly line operations.
• Deliver meal trays to patients and respond to special meal requests, including late trays.
• Collect patient tray carts after meal service and transport to the dish room.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment per procedures.
• Process tableware through the dishwasher and maintain supplies of clean dishes and utensils.
• Handle clean tableware to prevent recontamination and prepare cutlery bundles.
• Assist with light food preparation and ensure safe food storage to minimize waste.
• Provide courteous service to staff, physicians, volunteers, and visitors in the cafeteria.
• Prepare, deliver, and serve catering orders outside regular hours.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following food safety practices.

Asthe successful applicant, you will do the following:

• Demonstrate a practical knowledge oftherapeutic diets to accurately assemble patient meal trays.
• Participate in tray assembly line operationsas required.
• Deliver meal trays to patients at the bedsideand respond to voicemail messages and special meal requests, including latetrays.
• Collect patient tray carts following mealservice and transport them to the dish room for processing.
• O perate and maintain dishwashing equipment inaccordance with established procedures, ensuring all tableware is properlycleaned, sanitized, and ready for the next meal service.
• Process tableware through the dishwasherusing standardized loading procedures and maintain adequate supplies of cleandishes and utensils.
• Handle clean tableware appropriately toprevent recontamination and prepare cutlery bundles for meal service.
• Assist with light food preparation and ensurefood is stored safely to minimize waste and maintain quality.
• Provide courteous food service to staff,physicians, volunteers, and visitors in the cafeteria as required.
• Prepare, deliver, and serve catering orders,including those required outside regular cafeteria operating hours.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workenvironment while adhering to food safety and infection prevention practices.

• Previous experience and/ortraining in food preparation/handling and sanitation in a food service setting
