Job summary

Lifetimes-Living-Inc.-5 is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal delivery and food service for residents. You will assist the cook with preparation, plating, and serving while respecting individual dietary needs and ensuring a positive dining experience.

You will maintain cleanliness, operate the dishwasher, and collaborate with Food Services and other departments. The role requires a current food handling certificate and comfort working with seniors.

Qualifications

• Current certificate in food handling training from a local board of health.
• Food service experience is necessary.
• Understanding and empathy for senior needs.
• Familiar with HACCP, WHMIS, and sanitation codes.
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and orally.
• Mentally and physically capable of duties and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals in a pleasant, courteous manner.
• Assist the cook with food prep, plating and service.
• Respect residents' preferences and dietary requirements.
• Maintain clean service areas, tables, and storage spaces.
• Ensure dishwasher is properly loaded and emptied.
• Collaborate with Food Services and other departments.

The Dietary Aide reports to t he Culinary Services Manager a nd is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident safety by preparing and/or serving meals directed by the cook for individual residents and by providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

Wage Rate

The starting wage rate is $18.31hour.

Vacancy

We are hiring employees to work on a casual basis to help us fulfil our scheduling needs and fill vacant shifts as they arise. We are offering flexible hours.

Responsibilities:

• Delivers meals in a pleasant, courteous manner,
• Assists the cook in preparing, plating, and serving food as requested,
• Respect the Residents' likes and dislikes and adhere to their special dietary requirements,
• Ensures that meals are an experience rather than a task,
• Maintains serveries, tables, food storage area, fridges, and freezers,
• Clean and reset tables and remove dirty dishes,
• Ensures dishwasher is loaded, operated, and emptied,
• Collaborates with all associates in Food Services and other departments,
• Supports FIFO processes,
• Vacuum and damp mop floors as needed,
• Ensures a safe working environment,
• Participates in education as required,
• Any and all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Current certificate in food handling training from a local board of health or an agency of the board of health or has recently successfully completed an equivalent food handler training program,
• Food service experience is necessary,
• Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
• Familiar with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, Sanitation Code,
• Knowledgeable about food handling and storage,
• Ability to serve food attractively and correctly by understanding orders,
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned,
• Organizational and time-management skills,
• Individual and teamwork skills,
• Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions,
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing,
• Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (w/ in 1 yr), and two supervisory references are required.
