Job summary

Kindera Living is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our compassionate team in Ontario. You will assist the cook by preparing meals according to residents' dietary needs and safety protocols, delivering meals with warmth and respect for each resident's preferences.

We offer casual shifts with flexible hours, starting wage rate around 23.66 CAD per hour, and opportunities to grow within a supportive care environment focused on kindness and resident well-being.

Qualifications

  • Completed or enrolled in a Food Service Work program or related training.
  • Apprenticeship in Cook or related trade is acceptable.
  • Registered Training Agreement in Cook/Assistant Cook is eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers meals in a pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Assists the cook in preparing and plating meals as requested.
  • Respects residents' dietary preferences and requirements.
  • Follows prescribed diet/texture as directed by RD or MD.
  • Keeps serveries, tables, storage areas, fridges and freezers clean and organized.
  • Loads and empties the dishwasher and maintains cleanliness.

The Dietary Aide

reports to the Food Service Manager/ Food Service Supervisor and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident safety by preparing meals directed by the cook for individual residents and by providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

Wage Rate:

The starting wage rate is $23.662/hour.

Vacancy:

We are hiring employees to work on a casual basis to help us fulfil our scheduling needs and fill vacant shifts as they arise. We are offering flexible hours.

Responsibilities:
  • Delivers meals in a pleasant, courteous manner,
  • Assists the cook in preparing and plating of food as requested,
  • Respects the Residents' likes and dislikes and adheres to their special dietary requirements,
  • Follows the diet/texture as prescribed by Registered Dietitian/MD
  • Ensures that meals are an experience rather than a task,
  • Maintains serveries, tables, food storage area, fridges, and freezers,
  • Clean and reset tables and remove dirty dishware,
  • Ensures dishwasher is loaded, operated, and emptied,
  • Collaborates with all associates in Food Services and other departments
  • Supports First In First Out processes
  • Follows cleaning procedures
  • Ensures a safe working environment,
  • Participates in education as required,
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:
  • Successfully completed or enrolled in a Food Service Work program at a College of applied arts and technology or a Food Services Worker program provided by a private career college.
  • Or have successfully completed an apprenticeship program in the trade of Cook, Institutional Cook or Assistant Cook under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, 1998, the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, or the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021;
  • Or have entered into a registered training agreement in the trade of Cook, Institutional Cook or Assistant Cook under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, 1998, the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 or the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021;
  • Or in the reasonable opinion of the Home appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in the fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality food service to perform the duties required of the position
  • Food Handler Certification given by Public Health or a certified agency
  • Knowledgeable about food handling and storage
  • Ability to prepare modified food textures
  • Ability to understand and follow production requirements
  • Ability to serve food attractively and correctly by understanding orders and diet spreadsheets,
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned,
  • Organizational and time-management skills,
  • Individual and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must meet current legislation
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required
