Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Canada Inc. in Brampton, ON is hiring an entry-level Diesel Technician. This role focuses on learning the trade under supervision, performing minor component repairs, and supporting with major repairs.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years' practical experience with vehicle repair or truck repair preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
  • Must be currently enrolled in an apprentice program
  • Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies
  • Working knowledge of hand tools required
  • Current driver's license class G or class 5 and ability to obtain class DZ within 6 months of hire
  • Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems
  • Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
  • Willingness to travel within district to customer yards/training sites

Responsibilities

  • Remove, replace or adjust brakes, fifth wheel and other components under supervision
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles as trained
  • Assist with mechanical repairs and replacements as directed
  • Handle customer service duties as necessary
  • Pickup and delivery of vehicles
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Use hand tools and power tools including wrenches, gauges, pneumatic tools, welding equipment, jacks and hoists
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and battery checks
  • Raise trucks and heavy parts with jacks/hoists
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
