Avanti Fleet is seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Technician to provide on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services for our diverse fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. As a Mobile Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for traveling to various customer locations to perform high-quality service, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. This role requires a strong understanding of diesel engine systems, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer locations to perform scheduled maintenance, diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, and complete necessary repairs on diesel engines and related systems (e.g., fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, exhaust, cooling, and HVAC).
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential problems and recommend preventative maintenance measures.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, software, and technical manuals to accurately identify and resolve malfunctions.
- Perform repairs and replacements of components, including but not limited to engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems.
- Complete accurate and detailed service reports, including parts used, work performed, and recommendations for future service.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure the proper maintenance and operation of the company service vehicle and tools.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while performing job duties.
- Communicate effectively with customers and dispatch to provide updates on service status and estimated completion times.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest diesel technology and industry best practices through ongoing training and development.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics.
- Proven experience as a Diesel Technician.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and related components.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- CDL certification.
- ASE Certification.
- EPA 608 Certification.
