Job summary

CPKC's Thunder Bay location seeks a Diesel Service Attendant to help keep locomotives fueling, serviced and ready for operation. In this hands-on role you will fuel, inspect, clean and test locomotive equipment while supporting safe movement of rail traffic.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, apply mechanical aptitude and safety discipline, and perform basic maintenance and cab system checks. The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license and flexible shifts, including

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience working around heavy equipment.
• willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read and understand safety instructions in English.
• Proven dedication to safety and ability to follow rules.

Responsibilities

• Safely fuel, sand, and service locomotives, ensuring adequate fuel levels and cab amenities.
• Perform inspections and basic maintenance on locomotives, fuel systems, and cab equipment.
• Evaluate locomotive components for reuse or replacement.
• Clean and maintain locomotive cabs and washrooms for a safe work environment.
• Test cab electrical equipment, safety devices, and brake systems.
• Configure cab brake systems based on train operations and ensure inspections are completed.
• Accurately complete crew-to-crew documentation and comply with procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
