Job summary

CPKC in Scarborough, Ontario is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to keep locomotives moving safely. You will perform preventative and scheduled maintenance, diagnose engine issues, read blueprints and service manuals, and apply mechanical skills to keep freight moving across the network.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Red Seal or equivalent trade certification or Unifor Local 101R card preferred.
• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.
• Read and understand safety instructions and English documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, service, test, and repair locomotive systems with precision.
• Diagnose diesel engine issues and perform repairs per standards.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and service manuals for tasks.
• Evaluate parts for reuse or replacement to ensure reliability.
• Conduct low-voltage repairs on electrical systems.
• Service locomotive cabs and operate cranes and hand tools safely.
