Job summary

CPKC in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to keep locomotives moving and communities connected. You will diagnose, repair and maintain locomotive systems in a safety-first setting, using blueprints and manuals to guide complex tasks.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and appropriate trade credentials (Red Seal or equivalent). This is a full-time, union position with competitive benefits and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Red Seal in Heavy-Duty Mechanics strongly preferred.
• Unifor Local 101R card accepted as equivalent credential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, service, test, and repair locomotive systems with precision.
• Diagnose diesel engine issues and execute repairs per regulatory standards.
• Interpret blueprints, diagrams and manuals to complete tasks efficiently.
• Evaluate parts for reuse, repair or replacement to ensure reliability.
• Modify and assemble mechanical structures to meet needs.
• Perform low-voltage repairs on locomotive electrical systems.
• Service locomotive cabs and maintain a clean, safe operator environment.
• Operate cranes, forklifts and hand tools safely to support maintenance.
