Qualifications

• 8+ years of software and infrastructure engineering experience with leadership.
• Hands-on depth in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including GKE, Networking, Compute, Storage, IAM/Workload Identity Federation, and BigQuery.
• Strong Golang and Python for internal tooling, automation, and microservices.

• Pay Rate: $63.00/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Devops Manager on behalf of our client. They're expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Lead Platform Engineer in this role will spearhead our clients cloud infrastructure and platform initiatives. In this role, you will lead a distributed engineering team, drive the evolution of our internal developer platform, and architect highly scalable, secure, and observable cloud systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure & Automation: Design, provision, and maintain multi-project cloud environments using Terraform (IaC) and robust CI/CD pipelines via GitLab at scale.
• Platform Architecture: Scale and optimize core container orchestration platforms leveraging Kubernetes, GKE, ArgoCD (GitOps), and custom controllers.
• Observability & Telemetry: Oversee and manage fleets of OpenTelemetry collectors alongside monitoring stacks including Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and PagerDuty.
• Developer Experience: Champion internal developer portals (such as Backstage) to streamline deployment workflows, operational efficiency, and self-service capabilities.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Cost & Operational Governance: Implement best practices in FinOps and AIOps to optimize cloud spending and enhance automated incident management.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software and infrastructure engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or team management role handling distributed engineering teams.
• Deep, hands-on architectural and operational depth in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - specifically GKE, advanced Networking, Compute, Storage, IAM/Workload Identity Federation, and BigQuery.
• Strong programming capability in Golang and Python dedicated to building internal platform tooling, automation scripts, and scalable microservices.
• Advanced mastery of Terraform for multi-team project management and GitLab for enterprise-grade pipeline design and repository administration.Infrastructure-as-Code & CI/CD
• Proven deployment and fleet management experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Grafana dashboards, and alerting integrations like PagerDuty.
• Education and Certifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Nice to have certifications Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
