We’re here to make air travel affordable for everyone, and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to help us continue changing the industry for the better. As Canada’s most reliable airline, we’re all about offering real value. As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. We know who we are, and we’re confident in our approach.

Your Team:

Join the Digital - Engineering team at Flair as a DevOps Engineer, where you will play a key role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports the delivery of our software. Working closely with the development team, you will help make software releases faster, more reliable, and secure. This is a hands‑on role focused on infrastructure-as-code, improving build and release pipelines, maintaining healthy, reliable environments, and proactively identifying and resolving issues before they affect customers. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of Flair’s technology platform.

This is a full-time, on-site position that can be based at any of our Edmonton (YEG), Calgary (YYC), Vancouver (YVR), or Toronto (YYZ) offices.

A Day in the Life:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Build and maintain cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring changes are reviewed, version-controlled, and reusable.
  • Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, supporting reliable deployments and effective rollback processes.
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters, including deployments, scaling, upgrades, networking, and production support.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, and observability tools to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
  • Embed security into day‑to‑day DevOps practices, including access management, secrets management, and scanning of images and dependencies before deployment.
  • Support platform reliability through service‑level objectives, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and post‑incident reviews.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and develop self‑service tools that improve engineering efficiency.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary spending.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks for production systems.
  • Participate in a shared on‑call rotation to support production systems and respond to critical incidents.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support team and business objectives.
What You Bring to the Role:

The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair’s core values of respect, honesty, accountability, and efficiency while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • Professional certifications such as CKA, CKS, or a professional‑level cloud certification are considered an asset.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
    • Hands‑on production experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including networking, access management, and compute services.
    • Practical experience managing and troubleshooting Kubernetes environments.
    • Experience with Git‑based workflows and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
    • Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
    • Experience with Argo CD or Flux, and packaging tools such as Helm or Kustomize is considered an asset.
    • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry is considered an asset.
    • Experience working in regulated environments such as SOC 2 or PCI DSS is considered an asset.
    • Experience supporting multi‑account or multi‑team cloud environments at scale is considered an asset.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong scripting skills using Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
    • Solid understanding of Linux and networking fundamentals, including DNS, certificates, routing, and load balancing.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, particularly within production environments.
    • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and respond to business‑critical technical issues.
