Job summary

Development Officer – Fundraising

WIN House, Edmonton's Women Shelter, Edmonton, Alberta

What We Do

WIN House provides individuals and their children fleeing violence with crisis response and intervention, safe temporary accommodation, and support for basic needs. Clients receive trauma‑informed, client‑centered programming and support, access to resources, information, and referrals to community support. WIN House works toward operating within a low‑barrier model of care.

What You Will Do
  • Manage and maintain accurate donor databases and records.
  • Maintain organized departmental electronic files.
  • Coordinate donor recognition, stewardship, and engagement initiatives.
  • Identify and cultivate new donor prospects through research and outreach.
  • Develop fundraising materials, proposals, and solicitation packages.
  • Assist in organizing fundraising and community engagement events.
  • Generate reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with Development team members to schedule and deliver Lunch N’ Learn workshop sessions.
  • Perform other Development duties as required.
Who You Are
  • Currently enrolled or has education in Marketing or Fundraising.
  • Experience or knowledge of donor database systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Detail‑oriented and highly organized.
  • Self‑motivated and eager to learn.
The Details

Standard hours of work are 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM Monday to Thursday and 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Friday. Win House offers a pet‑friendly, team‑oriented working environment. As a Living Wage Employer, we are committed to fair pay practices that reflect the value of our employees’ work. The rate of pay for this term position is $20 per hour.

Prerequisites

The successful candidate will be required to submit a Criminal Record Check and must be willing to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.

Eligibility (Canada Summer Job Grant Program)
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
