The company is hiring a Development Engineering Manager - 2 year-term at our site in Kanata, ON.

Purpose

The Development Engineering Manager will:

• Provide technical oversight and manage a team in the BWXT Medical, Engineering & Development department.
• Lead efforts to improve current manufacturing processes and develop new products.
• Be responsible for the technical performance and safe execution of work by the team.

Accountabilities

Technical leadership accountabilities

• Interact directly with customers and partners.
• Prepare or review estimates for projects (scope, cost, schedule).
• Make technical decisions impacting the department and organization.
• Communicate organizational priorities and goals.
• Lead and advise engineers and technicians to meet quality and project requirements.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ensure programs and specifications are followed.
• Create reports and provide project updates.
• Oversee technical troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
• Participate in technical dispute resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Marketing, Operations, Quality, EH&S, and Regulatory Affairs.

People Leadership

• Lead, motivate, and oversee hiring and training of employees.
• Manage performance and oversee safety and work practices.

Project Management

• Lead technical teams in designing, building, and testing prototypes.
• Ensure project objectives are met.
• Coordinate with project leaders regarding resources and monitor progress.
• Lead and advise technical staff to meet project requirements.

Knowledge and Experience

• Relevant university degree, usually in Engineering or Science.
• P.Eng or eligibility is valuable.
• 10 years of experience, with 3 years in the Nuclear Medicine field.
• Experience with medical device or drug product development.
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory agencies (e.g., Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, FDA, Health Canada).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and adhere to technical standards and regulations.
