Job description
Overview

RBC’s AML are looking to expand our data ingestion platform team. You’ll be working as part of a team to build automation solutions for data ingestion from various sources into S3 and Snowflake for terabytes of data.

Responsibilities
  • Work within an Agile product team to design, develop and maintain data ingestion flows and evolve the platform to orchestrate them.
  • Design and implement data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and performance.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
  • Integrate Snowflake with other data sources and BI tools.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data jobs and platform issues.
  • Collaborate with our developers and cross-functional teams to integrate data capabilities into existing and new applications.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, transformations and data models.
  • Foster knowledge and collaborative functions.
  • Gather functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications. This includes interfacing with other engineers, project managers, business analysts and end users.
  • Collaborate with other team members on resolving technical issues, improving current products and developing new features.
Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of Experience with Big Data technologies used for ETL: Spark, Yarn, Hive, Hadoop
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of data modeling.
  • Experience with Scala & Snowflake cloud data platform.
  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Apache Airflow).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering and, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of SCM, Infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with workflow management tools like: Apache Airflow
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools - Jenkins, GitHub, Automated Testing tools, Git, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes/Containers
