Job summary

Thales Group is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist (Detection Engineer) to monitor, detect and respond to cybersecurity incidents in a hybrid Canada-based environment. The role focuses on real-time analysis, automation, and implementing security controls across Azure, with collaboration across CSOC/DevOps to enhance detection coverage, remediation, and governance.

The position requires hands-on experience with Azure Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, and blue-team activities, including scripting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer/Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate independently across cloud security operations and DevSecOps to detect, investigate, and remediate security risks in a Microsoft Azure environment.
• Monitor and triage alerts from Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel, in partnership with the CSOC.
• Investigate suspicious activity and security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and escalate when needed.
• Maintain incident tracking and documentation throughout investigation and remediation lifecycle.
• Conduct and review vulnerability scan results and platform security recommendations, prioritizing remediation by risk.
• Validate Azure resource configurations against hardening standards and best practices.
• Coordinate remediation with DevOps teams and track items through to closure.
• Review Azure AD roles and enforce least-privilege access; monitor PIM activity.
