Job summary

Thales Canada, Ottawa, hybrid, is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist (Detection Engineer) to prevent cybersecurity incidents through real-time monitoring, detection, and analysis. You will tune security tools, write scripts, and create use cases for monitoring in a Microsoft Azure environment.

The role supports CSOC/DevOps with measurable improvements in detection coverage and remediation. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in cloud security, strong knowledge of Defender for Cloud, Sentinel,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3–5 years in cloud security, security operations, detection engineering, or incident response.
• Experience with Azure security tooling and incident response processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate across cloud security operations and DevSecOps with CSOC and DevOps teams.
• Monitor and triage alerts from Defender for Cloud and Sentinel; investigate incidents.
• Maintain incident tracking and documentation throughout remediation lifecycle.
• Validate Azure configurations and coordinate remediation with DevOps.
• Develop automation and detections; support audits and governance.
